Music has always meant so much to me ever since I got my first IPod MP3 player. Every special occasion, I only wanted one thing and that was money for my iTunes account so that I could buy more songs. With this deep love and respect for music, I was curious as to what the musical opinions were around campus, another thing I love so much.
The question was simple: what’s one song that you would never skip if it came on? I went around campus and asked both people I knew and didn’t know this question, and got a wide range of answers. Something I loved was that every time I posed the question, I saw face after face light up to tell me a song that meant something to them. From The Beatles to Kendrick Lamar, each song spanned individual stories and meanings. Another common theme I saw was that, for the most part, the songs that were chosen held a very deep nostalgic sense. They typically weren’t songs that were wildly popular on social media, they were songs that spoke to each person in a way that will never be denied. This adventure into Salem’s music taste has emboldened my love for music and given me plenty of new song suggestions. If you would like to listen to the full playlist, scan the link below!
