After an extensive national search, Salem College’s Board of Trustees announced Dr. Jill Fleuriet as the next President of Salem College. According to her website, Fleuriet grew up in Harlingen, Texas, and comes from a family with a history of professional and volunteer service. She has a decorated higher-education background, obtaining her bachelor’s in Anthropology at Harvard University and both her M.A. and PhD in the same subject from Stanford University. Following this, she has served as both a professor and Vice Provost for Honors Education at the University of San Antonio.
Fleuriet brings extensive experience to the role as President, with a primary professional motivation to “engage in research, teaching, and service that help understand sociocultural processes that influence health, healthcare, and well-being,” according to her website.
