Midnight Breakfast was held in the Corrin Refectory on Dec. 7, 2025, the continuing tradition attended by both students and elected faculty. Starting at 10 p.m. and lasting for two-and-a-half hours, it gave students ample opportunity to relax and enjoy time with their friends and peers. Midnight Breakfast is always held the night before Reading Day, which officially marks the start of exam week.
About a week before Midnight Breakfast occurs, students are given the chance to vote for which professors and staff they would like to serve them breakfast. Some of this year’s line-up included Dr. Angela Burcham, Dr. Rebecca Dunn, Dr. Traci Porter, Dr. Melissa Totten, and Athletics Director Michael Williams. It’s a great chance for students to gain support and encouragement from staff and professors as they prepare for exams.

With tasty breakfast foods featuring french toast, waffles, sausage, bacon, and eggs, students came together and enjoyed their meals. A local band was present and facilitated an open mic. Students were able to go up to the mic by themselves or with friends and perform a song of their choice. The top three performers were acknowledged at the end of the night, but all students were able to put their voices into the room as the audience sang along to many familiar songs.
Midnight Breakfast provides the Salem community with a wonderful moment to come together and relax right before the stress of exam week fully starts. Whether you’re a first-year student who has never participated in this tradition before or a senior who’s enjoying one of their last, the spirit of Midnight Breakfast brings all together and properly signals the end of a semester.
