Best Fall Movie Recommendations

By: Taylor Cook

As we enter the best season of the year, there are so many things to start doing. If you haven’t already, go ahead and start decorating. Maybe have a Halloween costume in the works, and start watching all the fall-themed movies! In crafting this movie watchlist, I have revisited many of my fall favorites, watched some new ones, and researched the best possible fall movies. So here are my top 10 must-watch movies (and honorable mentions) for this fall season!

A few of my favorites that I thought needed to be honorably mentioned:

It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown

The Lake House

Edward Scissorhands

And now for the top ten!

10. Knives Out: A great murder mystery with a twist!

9. Rudy: A fall football favorite set in South Bend, Indiana.

8. Clue: As you can tell, I love a good murder mystery. This one, set in an old manor, where no one knows who the killer is.

7. Remember the Titans: Another great football movie with young Ryan Gosling (sigh). Tensions are high after efforts made to integrate, and this football team must learn how to play as a team.

6. The Craft: Witches, magic, and friendship takes a dark turn in this supernatural horror. (Filmed at Editor-in-Chief, Clare Buchanan’s high school!)

5. The Spiderwick Chronicles: The Grace family moves into the mysterious Spiderwick Estate, and discovers the magic lying within it.

4. The Goonies: This 80’s classic revolves around a group of kids trying to save their homes from being demolished. They find a map leading to pirates’ treasure and set out on a wild adventure.

3. Harry Potter (the entire series): Who can watch only one Harry Potter movie?

2. Sleepy Hollow: A great gothic horror where Ichabod Crane must solve the mystery behind Sleepy Hollow. However, he becomes entangled in the web of secrets and must find a way out.

1.  Hocus Pocus: One of all my all time favorites to watch near Halloween! This one has everything you need: curses, teenagers, a zombie named Billy Butcherson, and witches!
