Bring Back The Daisy Chain!

There is something so charming about Salem’s many traditions, though I have a soft spot in my heart for the ones that have been lost to time. While combing through old photos, I came across the daisy chain. As many of you know, the daisy is Salem College’s chosen flower. You might have seen the daisy motif represented throughout our school merch during orientation and in the mercantile. This symbol has a long history at Salem College. The daisy chain now only exists in photos of our graduating siblings of past years on their commencement day. I interpret the daisy chain as a link between Salem siblings on their day of graduation – a last unifying act before we all part ways and embark on our endeavors to change the world. I would love to see the daisy chain make a comeback in the future, as a nod towards our predecessors and a step towards a future that reintegrates more of Salem’s lost traditions.
