According to WXII 12, Forsyth County’s Soil and Water Conservation Manager, Edward Jones, has been charged with multiple charges, including failing to register as a sex offender and election fraud. Jones’ sex offender charges date back to 2001 in New Jersey, involving a 15-year-old girl.
When Jones ran for office in 2024, he failed again to notify the public of his criminal past, which is considered election fraud. To add to the election fraud, he ran for election and voted in Forsyth County while being a resident in Davie County.
Jones won the election for Soil and Water Conservation Manager with a 64% majority vote, against Winston-Salem State University Physics professor, Lei Zhang.
The investigation involving the election fraud charges began in November, and he was arrested in January, but only recently appeared for his first court date on Feb. 27. His bond was set at $100,000. Even though Jones is unable to fulfill his position at this time, the Soil and Water Conservation District is still able to perform all necessary responsibilities.
